Mandrakos Kitchen

Beyond space considerations, she needed steady, good light throughout the day, a concealable location for her cookbooks and television to view her food shows, and the ability to communicate directly with visitors in both her formal dining room and breakfast area. Natural light was achieved with clerestory windows in a cupola above the kitchen island. The island is shifted off of the rectilinear house grid to afford views of Long Island Sound while she prepares meals.
