Small But Smart

Los Angeles, CA

The design contained several sustainable features, including all engineered lumber and ample amounts of natural ventilation. A two-story space with ventilating windows create a "chimney" effect, drawing warm air up and out from both the first and second floors. High/low cross ventilation is provided in almost every room. The roof is flat to allow for flexibility in orientation - any way the building is turned equal solar access is achieved. Polished concrete floors and radiant floor heating round out its sustainable features.
